Race gravel or adventure gravel?

• Race gravel: light, quick handling, for gravel events and fast group rides. Think Specialized Crux, Cervélo Aspero, BMC Kaius.
• Adventure / all-road: more comfort, more tire clearance and mounts for bags. Think Specialized Diverge and Cannondale Topstone.

1x or 2x?

1x (one chainring) is simple and great for mixed terrain. 2x gives closer gear steps, better if you also ride a lot of road. We’ll help you pick based on where you ride.

Tires

Most riders around Toronto are happy on 38–45mm tires. Wider tires add comfort and grip on loose gravel.

What’s the best gravel bike for Ontario?

It depends on your riding. For fast gravel events, a race bike like the Specialized Crux, Cervélo Aspero or BMC Kaius. For comfort and bikepacking, the Specialized Diverge or Cannondale Topstone.
